31 Days--Day 3 The Hunt for Red October

Yesterday as I was thinking about the next quote to feature something amazing happened.
I turned on my computer and on the MSN homepage I saw this: "Author Tom Clancy dies at age 66"

Instantly I knew what quote I was going to feature.

"Once more, we play our dangerous game, a game of chess against our old adversary - The American Navy. For forty years, your fathers before you and your older brothers played this game and played it well. But today the game is different. We have the advantage"—

Now I'm not a big action movie person, but I saw this movie when it came out in the 90's. I think I was going through a Sean Connery phase.

It turned out to be worth the price of the ticket.

A very young Alec Baldwin plays the Jack Ryan part, which later was taken over by Harrison Ford and then Ben Affleck. (just a little bit of movie trivia in case you are interested)

Anywhoo.

The thing I'd like you to take away from this, besides the fact that the 90's was full of Tom Clancy action films, is this:

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Make no mistake, everyday we are involved in a dangerous game between us and the enemy. A game that has been played for a long time with the highest of stakes.....your life.

Captain Ramius is fighting for his freedom from communist Russia. He has the advantage because only he knows his true motives and he is fleeing Russia with one of the most highly advanced submarines.

And as
Captain Ramius says, having the advantage makes all the difference.

We also have an advantage also in our battle against evil and sin.

Jesus.

Corinthians 15:57
New King James Version (NKJV) But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

Through Christ's death and resurrection our enemies have already been defeated.

Our freedom has already been secured, we only have to believe in the power of salvation through Jesus.

Every move we make in this game, if it is taken along side the one who always plays to win, will lead to victory.

Thank you for stopping by today.
I hope this post has encouraged you in some way.
